I thought it was time for an update to my post What Puppy Linux is Best For You Since I have done this post Things have only improved and gotten better with puppy.
As I said previously “When deciding on what Puppy Linux version to use you may want to consider some things. First you will need to consider how much ram, cpu, board type you have. This will determine what puppy operating system you will start with”
- Precise Puppy: this is a good stable puppy os. It is built compatible with ubuntu 12.04 (which has support until 2017) click here
- Retro Precise: this is a version of precise puppy using an older non-PAE kernel so will run on older computers better. click here
- Tahr Puppy: this is another ubuntu based puppy os. it is compatible with ubuntu 14.04 (which has support until 2019) see here
- Slacko: This puppy os is built compatable with slackware so it will link to the spackware repos when the ppm si updated. click here
For an overview of this and other puppy os click here This is a great place to start especially when deciding on what Puppy Linux os to try.
Puppy Linux is a small operating system that packs a punch. For its small size it has a vast array of apps installed in it, and you can easily install others, or compile them if not available. you can also run portableapps.com applications click here and click here under option 3 to see how to setup in puppy.
