2. think about installing a Linux operating system on it.

As your computer will be a bit older and may not run some of the bigger linux operating systems. Like ubuntu. Linux mint etc. but as you can just burn a copy of the linux os and test it from the cd before instilling you can easily try them out and see if they will run.

Remember If you decide to get a newer computer dont throw the old one away it will be a good one for the kids to muck around with, have fun on and learn linux.
